It’s a lot easier to eat the foods that are good for you if they are easily available to you. And it’s a lot easier to avoid the foods that are bad for you if they are out of sight and out of the house. Plenty of delicious foods will keep well in your fridge and pantry. Why not have them right there where you can prepare a delicious meal without a lot of hassle?
If you need recipes to use these staples, try my topic Diabetes Cooktopic For topic, 2nd Edition (Wiley). The recipes in that topic are not just for people with diabetes but for anyone who wants to eat delicious, healthy food.
Make sure you buy things when they are in season. If you buy out of season, the food is coming from a long distance and you are paying for transportation. You are definitely not paying for taste because these traveling vegetables are grown to survive shipment and to last a long time.
