Diabetes Is Not Inevitable (Prediabetes)

As important as the first lesson in this topic is, the second lesson is even more so. Your child should understand that type 2 diabetes is, in many cases, a choice. This isn’t always true, of course — plenty of people with type 2 diabetes are slim and exercise a great deal. But for the most part, type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle disease. You can choose to exercise for an hour every day and eat small portions of highly nourishing foods, or not.
Your child needs to be as far away from diabetes as possible. That means eliminating prediabetes. You may have to set some fairly rigid rules to achieve that goal. If your child pushes back, just remember that setting rules indicates that you care.

Here are some basic rules to rapidly move your child away from prediabetes:

A maximum of two hours of looking at screens daily No fast food restaurants until prediabetes is gone A minimum of one hour of exercise daily More fruits and vegetables and less meat and fat
These few simple steps should put your child well on his way to normal, healthy metabolism and freedom from illness.
