Quiznos Sub

In1981, the first Quiznos Sub restaurant was opened Denver, Colorado. It featured toasted sub sandwiches, salads, soups, chips, and desserts. Rick Schaden ate at the restaurant and liked the sub sandwich so much that in 1987 he bought a franchise in Boulder, Colorado. He subsequently purchased additional franchises, and in 1991 he and his father bought the entire franchise operation, which then had 18 restaurants. Under Schaden’s leadership, the chain expanded rapidly and by the year 2000 it reached more than 2,000 outlets. Four years later it topped 3,000 outlets in the United States and 15 other nations. In 2005, it ranked second in the sub sandwich category of fast food chains.
