Endopterygota (Insects)

Endopterygota is a division of the class Insecta in the phylum Arthropoda. The orders of insects in this division have wing rudiments that develop internally, and external wings are not evident until pupal metamorphosis occurs. There are three super-orders in this division: the Neuropteroidea (which includes the orders Coleoptera, Megaloptera, Neuroptera, Raphidioptera, and Strepsiptera), the Mecopteroidea (Diptera, Lepidoptera, Mecoptera, Siphonaptera, and Trichoptera), and the Hymenopteroidea (Hymenoptera). There is no morphological resemblance between larvae and adults, and habitats and biology of adults differ greatly from larvae.
