Borelli took this flood shot of the massive stone track piers at Sixth and Ann Streets. At right
is his young son Paul, who grew up to follow in his father's footsteps as a photographer.
His Artcraft Studio supplied the Parkersburg flood photographs used in this topic.
Point Pleasant, West Virginia, built on an arrowhead of land where the Kanawha River
meets the Ohio River, was the scene of a historic battle between the Virginia militia and
Shawnee warriors. The 1774 battle broke the power of the Native Americans in the Ohio
Valley. A tall monument and a log house stand on the battle site where the two rivers meet.
The 1937 floodwaters inundated the monument's base and the house. (Courtesy Point
Pleasant River Museum.)
