In-Depth Information
2. Know the specific rules of the server and the match. Not all UHC matches are the
same. Some spawn you with a gear kit, some have shrinking borders, some allow healing
with potions while others only allow it with Golden Apples or not at all. Know the rules of
the specific server you're on and the match you're in, or else you may spend a lot of time
trying to do something that just won't work.
3. Be entirely overly careful. Do not take damage from anything except a player or a mob,
and avoid that at all costs. Falling damage or damage from Lava, drowning or hitting a
teammate is really something that should not happen in a UHC match, and if it does, it
means you are less likely to win. Paranoia based security is the name of the game: if it
seems even a little dangerous, get away from it ASAP. Do not make risky jumps if possible,
stay out of dark places when possible (even dark forests) and run away from all hostile
mobs (especially Skeletons), don't even get near Lava in most situations. It's just not worth
it unless you have awesome armor, which you won't for a while.
4. Get the right resources, ignore the others. Not everything is useful in UHC. Here's a
list of things you want, everything else can be ignored or dropped for the most part:
Raw resources: Wood, Coal, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald (Emerald only in case
you see a Village—Lapis Lazuli (for enchanting in v1.8 or above)
Food, especially Apples but do not eat Apples (they are for making Golden
Apples)
Feathers and Flint (for Arrows)
