In-Depth Information
NOTE:
Hiding your achievements is an excellent UHC strategy, because knowing what another player is doing is
extremely helpful to defeating them in this mode. You can do this by having just one player on a team craft
all of your Crafting Tables, handing them out to the other players. You get the “Benchmarking” achieve-
ment only when you pick up a Crafting Table from the output slot of either your inventory crafting menu or
from a Crafting Table output. Since you have to get achievements in a specific order in order to get the next
one, skipping the Benchmarking achievement will mean that your achievements stop showing, even if you
complete the necessary action. This will help spread confusion and disinformation, giving you a distinct
advantage. Does not work in single player UHC, however, unless you steal someone else's Crafting Table.
What makes UHC so gosh darned hard? Well, that'd be in the name: it's not just Hardcore
Mode, which means one death and you're out, it's Ultra HardCore mode, which means it's
hard to impossible to even heal. Otherwise it's a fight to the death in Survival Mode, typic-
ally on a small (and sometimes shrinking!) map, but the fact that you have to be very careful
not to even lose one heart carelessly is what makes UHC so hard, and so thrilling.
While learning to be the best of the best at UHC requires mastery of just about all things
Survival, meaning you'll want to simply learn all you can about the game, this is a mini-
guide to the mode that will give you a leg up on your opponents and make you much more
likely to survive. Remember though: these are just tips! UHC is all about general Minecraft
knowledge and adaptability, so make sure to learn about the basics of the game as well, and
never be afraid to try a bold new strategy if it makes sense in the situation.
1. Don't waste time, especially at the beginning. You simply can't mess around when play-
ing UHC, especially right at the beginning. While later stages of the match are harder to do
with perfect efficiency, like Diamond/Gold hunting or Arrow creating, everything you need
to do at the beginning can be done either right or wrong. That is to say, you can be quick
about it, or you can do it badly. When you start a match of UHC, you need to acquire food,
Wood, Crafting Tables and basic gear as quickly as you can, or else another team or compet-
itor will be ahead of you and thus much more likely to win.
