In the middle of the motel strip is the Alpen Motel (Hwy. 93, 250/347-9823 or 888/
788-3891, www.alpenmotel.com , $119-139 s or d), which arguably has the best and bright-
est flowers out front. The air-conditioned rooms are the best along the strip, which is re-
flected in the price (but hot springs passes are included).
Three kilometers (1.9 miles) south of town, Radium Resort (250/347-9311 or 800/
667-6444, www.radiumresort.com ) is surrounded by an 18-hole golf course and holds a
wide variety of facilities, including a health club, indoor pool, restaurant, and lounge.
Guest rooms overlook the golf course and are linked to the main lodge building by a
covered walkway. Regular motel rooms range $175-210 s or d, while kitchen-equipped
condos sleeping up to six people start at $265 per night. Check the website or call for spe-
cials (rooms are often sold for around $120, even in the middle of summer). Additionally,
golf, ski, and spa packages lower rates considerably, especially before and after summer's
peak season.
Prestige Radium Hot Springs (7493 Main St. W., 250/347-2300 or 877/737-8443,
www.prestigeinn.com , $185-245 s or d) sits at the town's main intersection. Facilities in-
clude a fitness room, indoor pool, gift shop, spa services, an Italian restaurant, and a lounge
bar.
Campgrounds
Within Kootenay National Park, but accessed from in town off Highways 93/95, is Red-
streak Campground (mid-May-mid-Oct., unserviced sites $27, hookups $35-39, fire per-
mits $8 per site per night), which has 242 sites, showers, and kitchen shelters. A lim-
ited number of sites can be reserved through the Parks Canada Campground Reserva-
tion Service (877/737-3783, www.pccamping.ca ) . The closest commercial camping is at
Canyon RV Resort (5012 Sinclair Creek Rd., 250/347-9564, www.canyonrv.com , Apr.-
Oct., $36-46 per site), nestled in its own private valley immediately north of the Highway
93/95 junction. Treed sites are spread along both sides of a pleasant creek, and all facilities
are provided, including a playground and laundry.
