Kootenay Motel (250/347-9490 or 877/908-2020) is along Highway 93, up the hill from
the junction of Highway 95. The rooms are nothing special (but air-conditioned) and rent
from $70 s, $78 d, $10 extra for a kitchenette. Also on-site is a barbecue area and pleasant
gazebo.
Up the hill a little and across the road is Apple Tree Inn (Hwy. 93, 250/347-9565 or
800/350-1511, www.appletreeinnbc.com , Apr.-Oct., $80-140 s or d), with a pleasant out-
door barbecue area.
Continuing toward the national park entrance, there is the Gables Motel (5058 Hwy.
93, 250/347-9866 or 877/387-7007, www.gablesmotel.ca , $79-129 s or d), where each of
the 17 smallish rooms has mountain views and is well furnished.
Several older motels lie in the quiet residential streets west of Highways 93/95. One
of these, the Park Inn (4873 Stanley St., 250/347-9582 or 800/858-1155,
www.parkinn.bc.ca , $85-115 s or d), has rates that remain reasonable even though it under-
goes regular revamps. It features an indoor pool and a covered barbecue area. Some units
have kitchenettes and separate bedrooms.
While the rustic ambience of Addison's Bungalows (250/346-6888 or 800/794-5024,
www.addisonsbungalows.com , Mar.-mid-Oct., $97-169 s or d) hasn't changed for genera-
tions, the surrounding scenery has. Originally located opposite the town's hot springs, the
cabins were moved in 2001 to improve habitat for resident bighorn sheep. Today you'll
find them just south of Brisco, 27 kilometers (17 miles) north of town along Highway 95.
Each of the eight cabins has a small kitchen, bathroom, stone fireplace, deck, TV, and wire-
less Internet.
