In-Depth Information
Summer 2014 saw the opening of the refurbished pool on the beach at West Park. A vari-
ety of watersports plus swimming is available with lifeguard cover in the summer months.
Havre des Pas: The focus at Havre des Pas is the large seawater swimming pool, which is
reached along an elevated walkway. The pool was built during the Victorian era, opening
to the public for the first time in 1895 although it wasn't until 1927 that a café and changing
rooms were added. For many years it was home to the Jersey Swimming Club, although it
gradually fell into disrepair until it received a major facelift in 2001.
The pool is open throughout the year, but because it isn't heated in the winter months it is
the preserve of a few hardy souls, only seeing major use when several hundred people take
the plunge at 11.00 on Christmas Day. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months
from 10.00 until 6.00.
The facilities include changing rooms, freshwater showers, a café/bar and a sunbathing ter-
race.
Parking is not that easy in the immediate vicinity but it is not too far to walk from the
larger car parks on the outskirts of St Helier, such as Green Street multi-storey, although
you might be fortunate to find on street parking slightly closer.
