In-Depth Information
Havre des Pas with the swimming pool just starting to uncover as the tide drops
Greve d'Azette and La Mare: This is the shoreline of the parish of St Clement's, and at
low tide the water has disappeared through the offshore rocks with a wide sandy beach ex-
posed. In contrast towards high water there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, and
at times even surfing on some small waves. There is some limited parking on the slipway
at Grande Charriere with a larger car park further east, just past the lighthouse at Le Squez.
There are public toilets at La Mare Slip with refreshments available in a couple of locations
along this section of coast.
Green Island: This is an area, which is popular with locals as well as visitors. Green Is-
land is a beach, which is best suited to neap tides, when it is high water around lunchtime.
Every other week on spring tides the water retreats rapidly across the foreshore exposing
significant areas of rock preventing any possibility of swimming, although it does allow
rock pool exploration. If you do venture onto Green Island itself, be aware of the rising
tide to avoid getting trapped.
The sandy beach is ideal for families with young children and when the tide is in the swim-
ming is safe. It is sheltered from northerly winds.
There is parking; public toilets and refreshments are available.
