4.) Walk along part of the North Coast footpath - the path runs along virtually
the whole of the north coast, from St Catherine's in the east to Grosnez in the far
northwest. There are stunning views of the coastline whilst in the distance it is pos-
sible to see the coast of France and the other Channel Islands. Select a short sec-
tion or walk the full distance in one long day. If you are on the island in September
it is possible to join hundreds of other walkers who are busy raising funds for the
charity “Help an African Schoolchild”.
Walking the section the coast between Bouley Bay and Bonne Nuit takes you past
the memorial to Operation Hardtack, when British Commandos landed on the
north coast on Christmas Day 1943.
5.) Go surfing in one form or another - surfing is a popular pastime for both vis-
itors and locals. The broad sweep of St Ouen's Bay provides the most consistent
