4.) Low water fishing: This a traditional Jersey pastime which is practised on the spring
tides when the water comes in further and goes out further, exposing a foreshore of sand,
rocks etc. This rich habitat is home to a wide number of species and many local residents
spend time searching the nooks and crannies for oysters crabs and other crustaceans.
St Catherine's Breakwater, one of the most popular fishing locations on the island, day
and night, winter and summer.
Horse Riding: There are a number of establishments, which offer opportunities for riders
of all abilities. One of the pleasures of Jersey is to be able to ride on the beach although
the hours are limited between the beginning of May and the end of September.

Rock Climbing: There is plenty of scope for climbing in Jersey with the main areas being
the southwest and northwest corners. The granite cliffs provide hundreds of climbs of all
grades to challenge climbers of all abilities. The Jersey Rock Climbing Club have regu-
lar meets throughout the year and are able to offer advice to visiting climbers. For those
visitors with limited experience there are a number of commercial providers who are able
