Including Your Resume
Do not forget to include your resume. Your resume should indicate your work experience (including
freelance work) in the game industry. Provide a brief, descriptive text on the front page to explain you, your
work, and your interests and expertise. Include the dates that you worked for relevant employers. Relevant
work includes any full-time or part-time position that relates directly to your work on sound design. Do not
include jobs washing dishes, pumping gas, or working at the checkout counter. Although these may pad
the resumes of some students or entry-level candidates, they clutter your resume with material unrelated to
the skills you should focus on. Again think about what your passion is and home in on that.
The Look of Your Site
The look and feel of your website involves subjective decisions that are best left to you, the designer
or the web designer you might hire. There is no one way to design a website. Just make sure the site is
clean, loads quickly and works!
How to Create the Website
You could write your website entirely from scratch in HTML and CSS,
but it is more common to create a website with a content management
system, or CMS. A CMS stores information for each page in a database
and of ers a GUI that allows you to manage the database entries (i.e.,
your individual web pages). These systems can range from extremely
simplistic and graphically-oriented to incredibly complex and
convoluted.
Listed below are some popular systems for creating websites. Most of er
free downloads or ways to create an initial, fully functioning website.
Website-building services start you with a free account to create a page
with some ad support. Limitations include the amount of storage and the
capacity for features such as audio- or movie-clip players, either directly
or through third-party systems. You may not have the option for ads not
to appear on your site.
