Vale de Europeu
Dubbed the
VALE DE EUROPEU
(
W
valeeuropeu.com), the region near Blumenau along
the Rio Itajaí was heavily settled by German (from the 1830s) and Italian immigrants
(from the 1870s), making this the most European enclave in the state - many folks still
speak German, the towns and bucolic villages sport traditional
enxaimel
architecture
and beer-brewing is making a comeback. Travelling by bus,
Pomerode
is the obvious
target, but if you rent a car (or a bike) you'll be able to take in a lot more.
