Famiglia Mancini stable (see p.509), this one has a slightly
maritime feel, and actually it's a good place for just a drink
and a sample of the por quilo antipasti, but should you be in
the mood for a squid and prawn risotto - or a goat and
saffron risotto, come to that (both R$82) - they'll rustle
you one up with no trouble. Daily noon-midnight.

Popular with nearby o ce workers at lunchtime, this place
offers good-value salads, risotto and pasta dishes (lasagne or
quattro formaggi R$23.90), and also serves a por quilo
breakfast (R$28.90/kg). Outside of mealtimes and at
weekends, it dispenses ice-cream-style sweet frozen yoghurt.

of the city's oldest churrascarias , Dinho's is still among the
best spots in town for a good steak (R$109 for a T-bone),
with a good selection of wines to accompany it. At
lunchtime on Wed and Sat, they do a feijoada buffet

best in Brazil, and his restaurant consistently features in
worldwide top tens. The faultless fusion cooking at D.O.M.
is sublime, but prices, as you'd expect, are high. Most
novices go for the tasting menu (R$335 for four courses,
R$465 for eight courses). Mon-Fri noon-3pm & 7pm-

p.499. Serving the best Italian food in São Paulo, this elegant
hotel restaurant is a good choice for special occasions.
Renowned for its top-quality ingredients, the chef adds his
own twist to dishes from different Italian regions, with
creations such as risotto with porcini mushrooms and saffron
(R$114), or polenta with gorgonzola (R$64). Mon-Thurs
7pm-midnight, Sat & Sun 7pm-1am.

130-year-old majestic fig tree, this place serves the city's
very best beef and veal, although it doesn't come cheap. A
chorizo steak of Kobe beef, for example, goes for R$243,
but you can get a super-tender veal with sautéed potatoes

buffet of Middle Eastern dishes that's popular with the
lunchtime crowds (R$39.80 for men, R$35 for women), and
there's also a suppertime meze buffet for R$69. Mon

sandwich bar, good for a snack, a drink or a meal, be it a
big fat sandwich, a juice, a beer or even a steak - their
speciality is filet montblanc : steak flambéed in brandy
with cream and mushroom sauce (R$47.60). Mon-Wed &

Eastern food, with an emphasis on Lebanese cuisine, is
served in very pleasant and spacious surroundings here.
The mixed meze is a good way to sample a mixture of
Middle Eastern hors d'oeuvres (R$118 for two people), or
try some Moroccan-style couscous (R$105). Daily
noon-1pm.

bean, pork and sausage stew) is served in Brazil only on
Wed and Sat, but here it's the house staple every day,
served as a rodizio along with farofa (toasted manioc), rice,
sliced oranges and other trimmings (R$98 weekdays,

priced food is served in an attractive patio setting,
landscaped with palms and jungle fronds. The lunch buffet
(R$72) is a great way to experience the highlights of Bahian
food, and in the evening the à la carte offerings provide a
similarly wide choice of dishes; try the shrimp cooked in
palm heart and tapioca cream (R$79), or go for the R$120
tasting menu. Tues-Sat noon-3pm & 7.30pm-
