Khortitsa Equestrian Theatre CIRCUS
( 701 2481; http://zp-kazaki.com/ ; Khortytsya Island; tickets 60uah) Standing on top of a
horse, attached to the side of a horse, hanging upside down on a horse - Cossacks defy
fear and forces of gravitation in this captivating (and humorous) show. The venue re-
sembles a Ukrainian village, complete with an inn and shops selling crafts. It is unreach-
able by public transport, so arrange a taxi from your hotel.

Getting There & Away
BUS
Marshrutky for Dnipropetrovsk (40uah, 1½ hours, every 15 minutes) leave from the bus
station or from pl Lenina near Dniproges Dam. The bus station ( 642 657; pr Leninaya
20) is near Zaporizhzhya-1 train station. There are services to Simferopol (140uah, seven
hours) and Donetsk (85uah, four hours, hourly).
TRAIN
Zaporizhzhya-1 train station ( 224 4060; pr Leninaya 2) is at the southeastern end of pr
Lenina. New fast services are available to Crimean and major eastern cities: Kyiv
(300uah, seven hours), Simferopol (220uah, 3½ hours), Donetsk (170uah, three hours)
and Kharkiv (180uah, three hours). There are many more slower trains going to the same
destinations. Most of these trains pass Dnirpropetrovsk, but buses are more convenient.
Getting Around
The main street, pr Lenina, stretches for 10km from Zaporizhzhya-1 train station at its
southeastern end to pl Lenina overlooking the Dniproges Dam. Between them, bul
Shevchenka descends from pr Lenina to the section of the river where both listed hotels
