(pr Nakhimova 10; mains 25-40uah; 9am-12am; ) Here is the original retro-Soviet
dumpling shop, which has exploded into the pan-Ukrainian Katyusha chain. The menu
features Ukrainian varenyky and Russian pelmeni dumplings with all conceivable
fillings. The interior, coupled with some vodka shots, may induce nostalgic sobbing
among older customers.
Café Ostrov RESTAURANT$$$
OFFLINE MAP
( 099 543 8383; Istorichesky bul 3; mains 85-130uah; 9am-1am; ) Its name inspired by
The Island of Crimea - a celebrated novel by dissident writer Vassily Aksyonov - Ostrov
displays an elegance unseen elsewhere on the peninsula. The chef plays a virtuoso game
with homegrown products - from sweet Yalta onions and goat cheese to Crimea's extror-
dinary figs and peaches. Book ahead if you want a bayview table on the balcony.
Barkas SEAFOOD$$$

(vul Kapitanskaya 2A, Artbukhta; mains 65-150uah; ) The motto - 'we store our fish in the
sea' - suggests that only the fresh catch is served in this naval-themed restaurant with a
blue-coloured interior and waiters dressed as sailors. This is also the place to sample all
kinds of Crimean wine.
Injir Cafe PIZZA$$$

(vul Bolshaya Morskaya 35; mains 50-70uah; ) A local hipster fave, this pizzeria-cum-bar
exudes positive vibes, musically and gastronomically speaking. Totally unpretentious, it
is equally good for eating and social drinking. Pizzas are properly thin and served on
wooden plates by friendly waiters clad in uniform jeans shorts, while the DJ spins sum-
mery tunes.
Kofein BREAKFAST, COFFEE$$$

(vul Lenina 55; coffee from 20uah; 24hr) No other Kofein outlet in Ukraine can boast such
a scenic location - with a terrace perched above Yuzhnaya (Southern) Bay, where Russi-
an navy ships are moored. The smartly designed picture menu makes it easier to choose
from the extensive list of coffee drinks, salads, main courses and cocktails. But the unne-
cessary 'exotic' ingredients in iced teas and milkshakes are slightly annoying.
