In-Depth Information
To get around this, you need to first turn the Connected clips into a Secondary Storyline:
1. Select the Bump in the Night Collection in the Event Library, and make sure the Event Browser's filter is
set to show Favorites.
2. Open the Bump in the Night Project in the Timeline by double-clicking it in the Project Library.
3. -click on the two Connected clips (Scene 8 Slate 56 Take 2 and Scene 8 Slate 55 Take 2) in the
Timeline to select them.
4. Choose Clip Create Storyline or press +G.
5. Select the In point for Scene 8 Slate 55 Take 2 and drag it to the right by 1 second and 21 frames. This
time the preceding clip ripples along with the move just as in the Primary Storyline (see Figure 7.4).
6. Press Shift+? (question mark) to play the result. The extra material at the start of the second clip has been
removed.

Let's add another clip to the Secondary Storyline:
1. Select the Secondary Storyline in the Timeline so that it's highlighted in yellow.
2. Select Scene 8 Slate 57 Take 2 in the Event Browser.
3. Press E to append the clip to the end of the Secondary Storyline (see Figure 7.5).
4. Play back the Secondary Storyline section to see the result.
Remember to always select the storyline that you're adding clips to first; otherwise, Final Cut Pro automatically
places the clips in the Primary Storyline.
