3. Change the library to the Autodesk Appearance Library, and set the
color to Chrome - Polished Blue.
4. As a nice finishing touch, change your visual style to Realistic. See

You can close the c01-01.ipt file by clicking the X icon in the upper-right
corner of the Graphics window or through the Application menu. (There is no
need to save the results of this exercise.)
One of the fundamental steps in learning the tools of Inventor is to know where
your files are. For that, you need a project file. The project file can also predeter-
mine several options for accessing libraries, including the appearance and materi-
als libraries. Now you will see how to create one.

Working with Project Files
To work with Inventor effectively, you must have an understanding of the role of
the project file. The project file is a configuration file that tells Inventor where to
look for and store data about a project. Among other things, the project file can
also be used to create shortcuts for locating files, change where Inventor looks
for templates, and control the user's ability to modify standards.
It's also important if you work with others to have a consensus on how you
will work with data and consistency in your project files. Working from the same
