In-Depth Information
Appearance options can be modified in many ways. By making changes to
existing colors or by creating your own, you can easily give your designs a cus-
tom appearance.
Changing the Scenery
A compelling visual effect is to place your design in an environment that looks
like where it will be located or to create a scene that highlights the design by
eliminating the background altogether.
1. Verify that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then open the
c13-03.iam file from the Assemblies\Chapter13 folder.
2. Enter the Inventor Studio environment by clicking the Inventor
Studio icon on the Environments tab.
3. Click the Scene Styles icon in the marking menu or the Scene panel
to open the Scene Styles dialog box.
4. Right-click the XZ Reflective GP style, and click New Scene Style in
the context menu.
This creates a new scene style named Default 1.
5. Right-click the new scene style, and select Rename Scene Style in the
context menu.
6. When the Rename Scene Style dialog box appears, give it the name
Essentials XZ, and click OK to change the name.
7. Right-click the Essentials XZ style, and click Active in the context menu.
8. On the Background tab, click the Top Color icon in the Colors group,
and set the color to black when the Color dialog box appears.
9. Make the Environment tab active, use the slider to make the Show
Reflections value 40, and uncheck the Show Shadows box.
10. Click Save and then Done to close the Scene Styles dialog box.
11. Use the Render Image tool to generate an image like that shown in
Figure 13.11.
Creating an array of scene styles gives you many options. You can also gener-
ate scene styles using images of the environment your designs will be in, includ-
ing reflections of the lighting for the environment.
