Applying Different Lighting
Changing the lighting in a rendering can make a huge difference in the quality
of the images you create. Even small changes can have a dramatic effect. For
this example, you will make a simple change to see what the total effect is.
1. Verify that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then open the
c13-04.iam file from the Assemblies\Chapter13 folder.
2. Click the Inventor Studio icon on the Environments tab.
3. In the Scene panel, click the Lighting Styles tool, or select it from the
marking menu.
4. Right-click the Sample 1 lighting style, and click Copy Lighting Style.
5. Give the new style the name Essentials 1 in the Copy Lighting Style
dialog box, and click OK.
6. Right-click the new Essentials 1 style, and click Active in the
context menu.
7. Expand the style, and click the Blue Fill element.
The lighting type, placement, direction, intensity, and color can all
be changed.
8. Click the Illumination tab; then click the Light Color icon, set the
color to white, and click OK.
9. Use the slider to set the Intensity value to 80, and then click the
Shadows tab.
10. Select the Sharp Shadows option, and then activate the Directional tab.
