Applying Weld Features
Three types of welds are available: fillet, groove, and cosmetic. In the next set of
exercises, you will apply all of them and use a couple of options as well.
Adding a Fillet Weld and the End Fill Tool
Fillet welds are applied by selecting a minimum of two faces. There are two selection
sets, but you can add as many faces to each set as you need to define the feature.
1. Make certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then
open c12-03.iam from the Assemblies\Chapter12 folder.
2. Access the weld tools by clicking the Welds icon from the Process
panel on the Weld tab or the marking menu.
3. When the tools appear in the Weld panel of the Weld tab marking
menu, click the Fillet tool.
4. In the Fillet Weld dialog, select the Chain check box, and then click
the exterior surface of the blue tube.
5. Click the icon for selection set 2, and then select the face on the yel-
low plate against which the tube butts.
A preview of the fillet weld appears at the default value of 10 mm or
the last size you used.
