6. Set the dialog options as follows:
Bending Force Value = 12000 N
Force Arm length = 365 mm
Weld Height = 5 mm
Weld Group Height = 70
Weld Group Width = 70
Joint Material = Structural Steel SPT360
7. Click Calculate to get the results.
The calculator tells you that with the default safety factor of 2.5,
you would need a weld bead of just over 5 mm, but the stresses are
too high.
8. Change the Weld height to 6 mm, and click Calculate again to find a
weld size that will work. Figure 12.2 shows the results.

Now that you've calculated the weld, you can apply it with confidence that it
is sound. This and the other weld calculators can be used at any time to create a
new weld or guide your edits to an existing weld.
Preparing to Apply Weld Features
Preparations are features that are applied to a part after it has been cut but before
the weld is applied. These features do not appear in the source part file, because
a part might be placed in different assemblies and need different treatments for
