12. Click the Calculate tool to update the geometry preview.
The lower section will indicate a design failure. You might have to
select the double arrows to expand the dialog box to see the error in
the lower section.
13. Click OK to generate the gear features on the existing shafts, and click
Accept to generate the gears (Figure 8.13) even with the incomplete
information.

Anyone who has created gears in 2D or 3D by developing a tooth profile and
patterning it will appreciate the power of the Gear Generator. Along with spur
gears, there are design accelerators for worm and bevel gears.
Using the Key Connection Generator
Keys are used to align components but typically need material removed from at
least two parts to be able to place the key. In this case, a Gear component has
been added to the assembly centered on the shaft.
1. Make certain that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then
open the c08-07.iam file from the Assemblies\Chapter​8 folder.
2. Double-click the large gear.
