EXAMPLES OF WORDPRESS
BLOGS
Why Look at Famous Blogs?
The famous inventor Thomas Alva Edison once said that genius is
1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Looking at well-known and well-
implemented WordPress blogs can help with the inspiration part. Even
more important, it can help you put your perspiration into a direction
that's likely to be productive.
The WordPress community is not a marketing machine in the usual
sense, but it does celebrate and publicize its successful members pretty
effectively. For a long list that's got a lot of good examples, visit
http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Matt/Famous_Blogs.
Another great place for inspiration is the frequently updated WordPress
Showcase site at http://wordpress.org/showcase. Doug Hanna from
Automattic links to the blogs of the famous, but also to sites that use
WordPress in a unique or innovative way. Ratings are implemented on
the Showcase, so you can vote for your favorites, too.
As you spend more time with WordPress, you're likely to pay more
attention to the WordPress logo showing up in odd places on the Web.
Some business and other websites are entirely WordPress-driven, and
show the WordPress logo on the tab of your browser as you go through
the site. Other sites have a WordPress blog integrated into a non-
WordPress site, and the WordPress logo only appears on the bloggy bits.
Here, we've picked a few blogs that we think illustrate some of the best
uses of the capabilities of WordPress. Do your own research to find
examples that are inspiring to you—and, perhaps, work on your own
blog until it's worthy of someone's “Famous Blogs” list.
