Figure 8.19 Customized Most Requested Pages report sorted by Revenue Participation
now i know that internal site search participates in $46,051.96 of revenue gen-
erated. this indicates that half my revenue is generated from people who use internal
site search, which is indeed a strategic piece of information and especially valuable if
you find out that you have high usage but little revenue generated from those visitors. it
also tells you not to fiddle around with the search element as if it did not matter—we
know now that half the company's online revenue might be attached to it.
now let's look at a third view of your pages. Beyond pure page views and rev-
enue, you can apply an action participation metric, such as the subscription action that
i applied and sorted on in figure 8.20.
Here we can see that the internal site search, as expected, does not drive more
than one fifth of the subscriptions.
However, it becomes quite evident that the internal subscribe advertisement that
we have on product and category pages, such as power tools, plumbing, and electrical,
are the drivers for people subscribing. this tells you that people are likely to subscribe
because of your products. it might also indicate that there should be some product
focus in the newsletters.
