In-Depth Information
this report provides you with a top list of the most viewed pages but does not
tell you much information about the importance of those pages. Yahoo! provides two
participation metrics on this subject:
R
evenue participation
a
ction participation
Revenue participation is interpreted as how much revenue was generated from
people who also viewed this page and not how much revenue the page generated.
action participation is how many actions in total were generated from people who also
viewed this page.
You apply these two metrics only from the custom Report Wizard, shown in
figure 8.18.

Figure 8.18 Custom Report Wizard for a Most Requested Pages report with a Revenue Participation metric added
the results, when sorted on Revenue participation, are a lot different than when
the report is sorted on pages viewed. You will always get a bunch of pages that are a
forced part of the revenue generation, such as checkout pages—which is okay, but you
would have them removed if you show the report to colleagues.
the first direct insight that we get from the new report, shown in figure 8.19,
is that it is less about us talking up search as a successful site element, but more about
us knowing the value of internal site search. Before, all i knew was that it was used
19,065 times in october 2008.
