Clean up the topology on
the ball of the foot.
Your foot's topology should now be cleaner. We are looking for nice, clean grid
style topology, which will ultimately be easier to adjust and work with.
Next, select the two edges highlighted in Figure 7.21e and Merge them.
This will give you a triangle between the toes again, but we can create
a Cut from the triangle, back across the two next quads, to remove it
( Figure 7.21 f ).
We are now left with a large n-gon at the ball of the foot, but because we have
reworked the topology around it, we can easily divide it with a few cuts.
First, Cut the two quads behind the n-gon (Figure 7 22a).
Next, divide the n-gon with two more Cuts across each other, forming a
cross ( Figure 7.22 b).
Finally, create two more Cuts moving back from the toes (Figure 7.22c).
The underside of her foot is cleaned up, and looks much better.
