FIG. 6.30
Cut and clean up the topology, removing the new triangles.
FIG. 6.31
Merge the triangle on her back.
First, select the triangles above her hip (highlighted in Figure 6.30b) and
Merge them to collapse them.
Next, move around to her back and Merge the large triangle seen in
Figure 6.31b. As you can see, the polygons are now l owing nicely down
her back, and around her side, but we still have more triangles to
remove.
Now move around to her side, so you can see the remaining triangles
( Figure 6.32 a).
Create a Cut above and below the two connected triangles, and to the
side ( Figure 6.32 b).
Delete the crossing edges to give you the quad seen in Figure 6.32c.
This now leaves us with two more triangles. To remove these, select the
edges shown in Figure 6.32d and Merge them.
The hip will now look like Figure 6.33a, and have an ugly crease. Soften
this with the Smooth tool to give you a softer hip (6.33b).
Creating this cut and altering the topology has given us a much better l ow
of geometry. Now the polygons follow the natural muscles of the back, and
from here, we can work on her shoulder blades, upper torso muscles, and her
shoulder.
