exercise 7.4: Analyze features using feature
themes
In this exercise you will use feature themes to perform an analysis of the build-
ing heights in your model.
If you are continuing from the previous exercise, you can skip to step 3.
Otherwise, if you haven't already done so, go to the topic's web page at www
.sybex.com/go/infraworksessentials and download the files for Chapter 7.
Unzip the files to the correct location on your hard drive according to the
instructions in the introduction.
1. If it is not already open, launch InfraWorks.
2. On the Start Page, click Open and browse to C:\InfraWorks Essentials\
Chapter 07\ . Click Ch07 Bimsville Bypass.sqlite and click Open.
3. In the top-right of your screen, click the Proposals drop-down list
and select Ex_7_4.
4. Restore the bookmark named Town View.
5. On the main toolbar, if the InfraWorks toolbar is not visible, click the
InfraWorks icon.
6. If the Analyze toolbar is not visible, click the Analyze icon on the
InfraWorks toolbar.
7. If the Feature Themes panel is not open, click Feature Themes on the
Analyze toolbar.
You will see a Building Heights - Complete theme already listed.
This is the completed version of the theme you are going to create for
this exercise.
8. In the Feature Themes panel, click Add A New Theme.
9. In the Theme Properties dialog, do the following:
A. For Name, Enter Building Heights .
B. For Feature Class, select Buildings.
C. For Property, select Roof Height.
d. For Distribution, select Equal.
e. For Number of Rules, enter 5 .
