ratio. This command will use the current Sun & Sky settings and Exposure
Settings in the Render Model dialog (covered a bit later) to create the image.
fIgureĀ 6.17 The Camera Snapshot dialog
The following are the settings in the Camera Snapshot dialog:
file name For this setting, you can click the ellipsis button to browse to the
location where you will save the resulting image file.
use Viewport resolution With this setting enabled, you will create your snap-
shot using the same resolution that you currently see when viewing the model.
set resolution If you do not want to use the same resolution that you are
viewing in the model, you can enable this setting and provide the height and
width values, in pixels, for the resulting image. The Keep Aspect Ratio option
will preserve the aspect ratio by automatically changing the height when you
change the width, and vice versa.
render Model
The Render Model command is a bit more sophisticated than Create Snapshot.
It will render the model using multiple passes and enables independent control
of the date, time, cloud cover, and exposure settings. Interestingly, the Sky
Overcast % setting for the Render Model command does have an effect on how
light reflects off of objects in the model (unlike the Cloud Cover setting in the
Sun & Sky asset card).
You access the Render Model command by clicking the Presentation icon on the
main toolbar and then clicking Render Model on the Presentation toolbar. This will
open the Render Model dialog (see FigureĀ 6.18). The initial preview of the render
may take some time to generate, and then InfraWorks will make multiple passes
on the rendering. You can allow the command to run as long as you like, and when
the desired quality is generated, you can stop the command and save an image file.
