exercise 3.6: Create Buildings
If you are continuing from the previous exercise, you can skip to step 3. Otherwise,
if you haven't already done so, go to the topic's web page at www.sybex.com/go/
infraworksessentials and download the files for Chapter 3. Unzip the files
to the correct location on your hard drive according to the instructions in the
introduction.
1. If it is not already open, launch InfraWorks.
2. On the Start Page, click Open and browse to C:\InfraWorks
Essentials\Chapter 03\ . Click Ch03 Bimsville Bypass.sqlite
and click Open.
3. Select the Ex_3_6 proposal.
You should see the model as it would appear at the end of Exercise
3.5 with edits made to the industrial park's parking lots.
4. Click Bookmarks on the Utility Bar to open the Bookmarks panel.
5. Click Industrial Park. InfraWorks will zoom to an area overlooking
the industrial park.
6. Zoom in to the southernmost lot. If the InfraWorks toolbar is not vis-
ible, click the InfraWorks Home icon.
7. On the InfraWorks toolbar, click the Create icon to open the Create
toolbar along the left side of the screen.
8. On the Create toolbar, click Buildings.
9. In the Select Draw Style asset card, use the Change Active Facets
function so that only the façade-style icon is depressed.
10. Use the Change Display Options function to configure the Select
Draw Style asset card to show the names and thumbnails of the
styles. The top-left option is suggested.
11. Where it says Type To Filter Items, type Lysander .
12. Click Facade > Marble & Stone > Lysander.
Typing a keyword as a
filter is a quick way to
find what you want in
the Select Draw Style
asset card.
13. Click three points on the southernmost parking lot and then double-
click the fourth to create the building.
14. Press Esc twice to clear the selection of the newly created building.
Pan and zoom to observe the building.
Your building should look similar to that shown in Figure 3.36.
