Reset Gradients
from the
menu so you are sure you have the gradient necessary in this
palette. When asked to
Replace current gradients with the
default Gradients?
, click
OK
.

On the option bar, click on the
Gradient Palettes
pop-up
menu and pick the gradient named
Spectrum
(the first
gradient from the left on the bottom of this palette, seen in Fig.
9-12-10). If you move the cursor over each gradient, its name
will be seen in the tool tips. Click the title bar of the document
you made or the option bar to dismiss the gradient palette.

In the option bar, ensure the gradient type is set to
Angle
Gradient
(the third icon in the group). Ensure the
Mode
pop-
up menu is set to
Normal
and
Opacity
is set to
100%
as seen
in Fig. 9-12-11.

Place your cursor in the dead center of the oval. The guides
should make this easy. Hold down the
Shift
key and click from
this center point horizontally to the end of the oval (from
center to right). You should see a gradient that looks like the
one in Fig. 9-12-12.

With the
Gradient
tool still selected, click the
Gradient
Palettes
pop-up menu and pick the gradient named
Black,
White
as seen earlier in Fig. 9-12-3. If you move the cursor
over each gradient, its name will be seen in the tool tips.
10.
Select the
Radial gradient
in the option bar (second from the
left, seen in Fig. 9-12-13).
