Fig. 9-12-12
Your
gradient should look like
this.
Fig. 9-12-13
Click the
Radial
gradient icon as
seen here.
11.
Go into
Quick Mask
mode by holding down the
Q
key or the
Quick Mask
button in the tool bar seen in Fig. 9-12-14. Note,
for this tutorial, I have the
Quick Mask
option set so that
color indicates selected area. You can ensure this is set by
double-clicking on the
Quick Mask
button in the tool bar and
viewing the dialog seen in Fig. 9-12-15.
12.
Once in
Quick Mask
mode, don't be concerned when the
color of the gradient appears to change; this is due to being in
Quick Mask
mode. Place your cursor in the dead center of the
oval. The guides should make this easy. Hold down the
Shift
key and click from this center point horizontally to the end of
the oval (center to right).
13.
Exit out of
Quick Mask
mode by clicking the button next to
the button on the tool bar you selected in step 10, or by
holding down the
Q
key again. You should see a selection of
marching ants that looks like the selection seen in Fig. 9-12-16.
