We want to make a perfect oval so we will place the cursor
dead center in the document using the intersection of the rulers
as our guide. To produce a perfect oval, starting from the center
out, you will need to hold down the
Option/Alt
key and the
Shift
key at the same time, and while these keys are held
down, click and drag from the center of the document outward.
When the oval almost fills the document, let go of the mouse
but be sure to keep the two key commands down until after
you let go of the mouse. You should see a perfect oval of
marching ants as seen in Fig. 9-12-9.

Once the document is created, select the
Gradient
tool (hold
down the
G
key). Fig. 9-12-2, earlier, shows the option bar in
Photoshop after selecting the
Gradient Picker
flyout menu,
