By 2013, it is a pioneering community within renewable
energy with one of the world's biggest solar thermal installation in
Marstal, seasonal hot water storages, several big wind power
installations and district heating using solar (Fig. 12.2) and biomass
even in rural areas like village of Rise.
Marstal solar power plant have an area of 18 365 m². It
covers a third of Marstal's power consumption (Photo: Erik
Christensen).
