In-Depth Information
1979 we gave the machine factory Vestas in Lem by Ringkøbing a
call, having heard that they were experimenting with a Darrieus
wind turbine. A few days later the manager, Finn Hansen, and chief
engineer Birger T. Madsen came to Herborg in order to see our
wind turbine. After a short time of negotiations we reached an
agreement in the autumn of 1979. That was the beginning of my
wind adventures at Vestas—and in actual fact the end of my own
pioneer period. The same autumn I started my university studies,
which meant that my time for experiments became much more
limited. Most of what I did during the following years was primarily
aimed at improving wind turbines that had already become
commercial.

Now I need to tell how things worked out with my most important
friend and cooperation partner during the pioneering epoch.
