The increase in tolerance increases the selection.
9 Now deselect by pressing Ctrl+D (Windows) or Command+D (Mac OS).
10 In the Options bar, uncheck Contiguous. By unchecking Contiguous, which means touching, you can
select all the green color within your tolerance range in the image with one click.
11 Click again on the green flower to see that now the selection goes beyond the initial selection, activ-
ating areas with a similar range of the green color throughout the image.
Uncheck Contiguous.
The selection now extends beyond the touching colors.
12 Instead of Shift+clicking, choose Select > Grow. The Grow feature looks at the present Tolerance
setting and increases your selection based upon that value. You might notice that the 100 setting in the
Tolerance took the expanded selection too far. In this next step, you will see how you can change this
value every time you choose to Grow.
13 Press Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Command+Z (Mac OS) to undo your last step.
14 Enter the value of 50 into the Tolerance text box in the Options bar.
15 Choose Select > Grow to see a much less drastic expansion of your selection.
