In-Depth Information
2 From the ps09lessons folder, select the file of the grass and sky named ps0901.psd . Press and hold the
Ctrl key (Windows) or Command key (Mac OS), and also select the file of the dog named ps0902.psd .
Pressing and holding the Ctrl or Command key allows you to select multiple files.
3 Choose Tools > Photoshop > Load Files in Photoshop Layers. By taking advantage of this feature, you
can load two of more files into one new Photoshop file easily. The file opens as a new untitled file. The
size is determined by the size of the largest file, and contains as many layers as image files you selec-
ted. In this case, a new untitled file with two named layers is created.
Load selected files into a new layered Photoshop file using Bridge.
4 Save the file by selecting File > Save As to save this file. When the Save As dialog box appears, navig-
ate to the ps09lessons folder and type ps0901_work in the File name text field. Choose Photoshop
from the format drop-down menu and click Save. If the Photoshop Format Options dialog box appears,
click OK.
If you receive an Embedded Profile Mismatch warning when opening the images, it might be that
you have forgotten to reset your preferences using the instructions on page 3. If you receive the
warning, choose the Use Embedded Profile option, and then click OK.
Understanding document settings
In this section, you will move another image file into this file. Before you combine the images, you need to
be familiar with each document's unique attributes, such as size, resolution, and color mode. Moving lay-
ers between documents that have different resolutions may create unexpected results, such as causing the
images to appear out of proportion.
Viewing an image's size and resolution
1 With your image file of the grass and dog still open, press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click
the file information area in the status bar, located in the lower-left corner of the document window. The
pixel dimensions of the image are displayed as 1,000 pixels wide by 839 pixels tall and the Resolution
is 300 pixels/inch.
