after 5pm. Just off the main lobby, Kona is extremely loud and not particularly private for
dinner, but it's a casual affair and guests can fill up for about half as much as 'Ohana next
door.
Spirit of Aloha
Dinner show, in dedicated space on the Grand Floridian side
CUISINE American/Polynesian. HOURS Usually two shows Tuesday-Saturday at 5:15pm
and 8pm. DDP 2 credits. DISCOUNTS 20% TiW, for final show only.
PRICES The Spirit of Aloha show offers tables in three price categories. Category 1, which
we recommend, is $70-$74 for adults, and $36-$40 for kids. Category 2 and 3 tables ($7/
$11 less for adults and $5/$6 less for kids) are distant from the main stage.
OVERVIEW Food is okay at this Polynesian luau and dinner show, which follows the story
of a young woman returning home after spending time as a city girl on the mainland. All-
you-care-to-enjoy Island pulled pork, BBQ ribs, roasted chicken, and Polynesian rice are
served family-style alongside fresh salad with honey-lime vinaigrette, seasonal vegetables,
and pineapple-coconut bread. Complimentary beer and wine are served, though it may be
difficult to flag down a server for a refill. Kids receive chicken nuggets with tater tots,
cheese pizza, and either grilled chicken or mahi mahi with rice and green beans. The show
has its moments, with an outstanding fire-dancing and sword-eating finale, but at over two
hours, it drags in places. With the amount of better entertainment already seen at the parks,
the Luau is going to be superfluous for many, and, at $70/adult, is an expensive proposi-
tion.
Dining at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort
Boatwright's
Inside the main building, near the quick service
CUISINE Cajun/American. HOURS 5-10pm. DDP Yes. DISCOUNTS 20% TiW; 10% AP; 10%
Disney Visa.
PRICES Dinner Appetizers: $7-$12. Entrées: $17-$34. Kids : $9.
OVERVIEW Loosely themed to a shipyard warehouse with the skeletal hull of a fishing boat
suspended overhead, Boatwright's is a casual restaurant just off the main lobby. The menu
revolves around typical New Orleans favorites like Jambalaya, Crawfish Ètouffée, and
Andouille-crusted Catfish with Dirty Rice, but the usual American steaks, prime rib, short
ribs, and pork chop are also present. Unfortunately, most of the Cajun entrees are under-
seasoned and bland. Boatwright's is excellent for guests who unexpectedly find themselves
back at the resort, but do make sure you have reservations because waits can be surpris-
ingly long, particularly on weekends in lousy weather.
