In-Depth Information
WHAT TO EXPECT DINOSAUR is located in the Dino Institute, an elaborately themed queue
area with authentic dinosaur fossils. After you move through the queue, you will be taken
to watch a short video where the storyline is explained. Once the pre-show concludes,
you will move to the next area where you board a 12-person (three rows with four people
in each row) Time Rover vehicle. Once strapped in, you will embark on your wild ride
through time and space. SCARY FACTOR High. DINOSAUR is one dark, loud, bumpy ride.
Although there are no drops more than a few feet and the vehicles don't move particularly
fast, this may still prove to be the scariest ride at Animal Kingdom. CAN WE HANDLE IT?
Besides being scary and bumpy, DINOSAUR is rough on those with even moderate motion
sickness.
WHEN TO GO Before 10:30am or two hours before park close. EXPECT TO WAIT 25 to 40
minutes in the afternoon. LENGTH 4 minutes. WHERE TO SIT Put apprehensive kids in the
middle seats. The front row affords the best view.
Finding Nemo the Musical
RANKING Major attraction. EMH No. FP+ Yes. Low priority. TYPE Musical theater show.
REQUIREMENTS None.
WHAT TO EXPECT Featuring the Finding Nemo characters, the show is housed in an air-con-
ditioned theater with fairly comfortable bench seats with backs. Tony Award-winner Robert
Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez (now of “Let It Go” fame) penned 16 original
songs for the show, and Michael Curry, who helped design the wildly successful Lion King
Broadway show, served as lead designer. The actors and puppeteers wear costumes and are
just as much a part of the show as the puppets themselves. Don't be put off by this being
“just a puppet show” because it's much, much more than that. SCARY FACTOR Low. Nemo
gets into some trouble with a shark puppet, but that's about it.
WHEN TO GO First and last shows are least crowded. EXPECT TO WAIT You'll want to be lined
up about 20 minutes before it begins. LENGTH 40 minutes. WHERE TO SIT Plan to sit at least
half way up in the middle seating section. Sitting any closer may result in a cropped view
of the stage that requires a lot of head turning to see the action. FastPass+ users who arrive
20+ minutes early file into the theater before standby guests.
Primeval Whirl
RANKING Fun but skippable. emh Morning. FP+ Yes. Medium priority. TYPE Wild mouse
coaster. REQUIREMENTS 48” or taller.
WHAT TO EXPECT Riders board four-person spinning ride vehicles reminiscent of Mad Tea
Party. The vehicles travel up a steep incline before being unleashed on the track that fea-
tures no serious drops or g-forces. It is a herky-jerky ride with the occasional neck-snap-
ping stop. SCARY FACTOR Medium. While technically less intense than other coasters, the
spinning can be disconcerting and it “feels” like you're higher up than you are. CAN WE
HANDLE IT? The ride can be incredibly hard on necks and backs. Anyone with pain should
skip the ride.
