By default, Final Cut Server ships with a Status field that's tied to a status lookup
that has some general steps in a workflow. It has a field called “Editor's comments,”
where editors and others can leave comments regarding the asset, and a field called
“Required reviewers,” where you can enter email addresses to be automatically noti-
fied when someone changes the Status field (this is tied to the default subscription
we talked about earlier). We'll look at this function in detail in the next exercise.
Click the Status pop-up menu, and note the workflow steps that are available. Currently,
only the Ready for Review field is tied to a subscription (which sends out an email with
the editor's comments).

editor's comments. The simplest way to investigate this is through System Preferences.
Open System Preferences, go to the Final Cut Server pane, and authenticate.

Click the Automations button at the top of the pane, and select the Assets Ready for
Review [Email] response.
Enable the response and then double-click to edit.

In the Metadata area, note that there are two steps in the metadata subscription. Final
Cut Server treats this in a hierarchical manner, in this case with the Status metadata
field being changed (instead of always match, which is usually not a good idea as it
can lead to infinite loops). After the first step in the subscription is satisfied, the sec-
ond step looks for the Status metadata field to match Ready for Review. If both these
criteria are met, the subscription will trigger the responses associated with it (which
you'll see in the next dialog). If you wish to add more criteria for the subscription,
click the Add (+) button.
