3. Right-click either one of the rulers at the edges of the document
window and choose Percent from the context menu that appears (see
Figure 10.1).
Some of the units

inches) depend
on document size
and resolution.

4. Press M to select the Move tool. Position the cursor over the vertical
ruler and drag to the right to pull out a vertical guide. Drop the guide
when the mark on the horizontal ruler reads 50%. It will snap into
place.
Press Cmd+; if you don't see the guide.
5. Position the cursor over the horizontal ruler and drag down to pull
out a horizontal guide. Drop the guide when the mark on the vertical
ruler reads 50%. The intersection of guides marks the center of the
image.

Guides can be dragged out from the rulers with whatever tool you are work-
ing with, but you need to use the Move tool to reposition existing guides.
Create as many guides as your design requires; eliminate unwanted guides
by dragging them back to either edge.
6. Drag the origin point from point A to point B as shown in Figure 10.2.
As the origin point snaps to the intersection of the guides, the center
of the image becomes the new origin.
You can also lock
or clear guidelines
by clicking View a
Lock Guides or Clear
Guides.
7. Save the file as Setup.psd and leave it open for work in the next
section.
