transforming
Paths, Layers, and
smart objects
Transforming layers and paths
is a fundamental graphic design skill.
Photoshop's tools for transformation are simple yet quite powerful once you
learn how to use them to position, orient, scale, align, distribute, and deform
layers and paths. You'll also learn how to encapsulate layers in Smart Objects
and transform them all together in a nondestructive container.

Using Rulers and Guides
Rulers and guides are aids that give you straight edges with which to align
layers and paths. In the following exercise you will change the rulers' units,
create horizontal and vertical guides, and reposition the origin point of the
rulers to the guides' intersection point.
