5. Click the Transparency Lock icon in the Layers panel (see Figure 8.7).
The transparent areas are now protected, so now you can affect only
the pixels that are already on the Spiral layer.
You can also lock a layer's position and/or image pixels (so you
can't change them).

6. Select green in the Swatches panel. Reduce the brush size and make
a series of swipes across the yellow spiral. The only pixels that are
affected are those that are yellow because the transparent areas on
the Spiral layer are locked (see Figure 8.8).
