taking Advantage of Pressure sensitivity
Pressure sensitivity gives you another dimension of input. Pressure is most
often set to modulate the brush size, but you can configure pressure to modu-
late hue, scattering, opacity, flow, rotation, and many other parameters if you
wish. If you have a pressure-sensitive tablet, try the following steps.
1. Press Cmd+N to create a new document. In the New dialog box, select
Web from the Preset drop-down menu and 800 n 600 from the Size
drop-down. Click OK.
2. Open the Color panel and choose a light-blue color by dragging along
the color strip.

3. Click the Brush panel button on the options bar to toggle it on. At
the top of the Brush panel, click the Brush Presets button to open
the Brush Presets panel. Select the third preset, whose tooltip
reads Soft Round Pressure Size. Drag the Size slider to 100 px (see
FigureĀ 4.22).

4. Make a horizontal brushstroke starting with light pressure on
the right and increasing in pressure as you drag to the left (see
FigureĀ 4.23). You can use pressure to control how much paint is
applied, more or less like a real paintbrush.
