2.2 The Main Theoretical Basis of Web 2.0
2.2.1 The Long Tail
The Long Tail is raised in October, 2004 in the passage named The Long Tail [1] by the
chief editor of Wired Chris Anderson. In literal meaning, it refers to the commerce and
economy pattern used in webs like Amazon and Netflix. That is, if the channel of store
and circulation is as wide as possible, the market share taken by the low demand or not
ideal sale products can be equal to or even more than the best-selling. To the clients, the
value of internet is increased as the number of the new clients raised.
The application of Blog presents the thought of The Long Tail. Every Blog is
different and of strong personality for their different focuses. Therefore, mostly the
Blog will have obscure topics which caught little attention from the majority . But it
satisfies the demand of a minority of people. Bolg gets the traffic from the long tail.
Consequently, the increase of traffic will bring in people who have the same interests
and income. (e.g.: putting advertisement in the blog)
2.2.2 The Strength of Weak Ties
The professor of Stanford MarkS.Granovetter put forward the Strength of Weak Ties in
1970s. He points out that one only will have a close relationship with the ones who have
much in common. There is no difference in the information they have separately. On
the contrary, because of the prominent differences, the ones who are estranged from
each other may have more possibility to have the information which others don't have.
So the weak ties relation is the necessary factor in being a part of the community. It can
bring people unexpected information and chances[2].
In Web2.0, The Strength of Weak Ties reflects itself in Blog, SNS and so on. People
having dissimilar social background and coming from different fields can provide the
clients with various useful knowledge. For example, the teacher who writes something
unfamiliar on the teaching Blog will help other teachers to know the brand-new but
interesting area to them.
3 Approach of Web2.0 Application Pattern Used in the
Information Teaching of University
Web 2.0 has fully affected trade, media and business world, not to mention the
education . Teachers are exploring the potentials like Blog, media sharing service and
other socialized software. These tools will make students acquire more knowledge and
create exciting chances of learning.
3.1 Blog
Blog is the core member of Web 2.0, is the records made by individuals or group
according to the order of time. It will be renewed regularly and called Network Logger.
They can be divided into thematic and non-thematic. One of them is the educational
