In-Depth Information
you want Oracle VM Manager to select a preferred server for deployment of the
VM or whether you would like to select it yourself.
8.3.2.2 Step 2: Selecting the Installation Media and Virtualization Method
On the next screen, shown in Figure 8.7, select the Solaris 10 installation media
from which to install the virtual machine. An image of the Solaris 10 10/09 instal-
lation DVD must already have been uploaded into the Oracle VM repository. Here,
you also select whether this VM is to be fully virtualized or paravirtualized. Create
the Solaris VM as a fully virtualized VM. Select the installation media and Fully
Virtualized as the virtualization method and click Next.

8.3.2.3 Step 3: Providing the Virtual Machine Information
At this point, you must select the details of the virtual machine itself—in particu-
lar, the name, operating system, CPU, and memory and virtual disk sizes. On this
panel, assign a name to the virtual machine; Oracle VM Manager and Oracle VM
Server will use this name to refer to this guest virtual machine. There is no abso-
lute requirement for the new name to be associated with the host name or node
name of the operating system running inside the VM, but linking them together is
likely to lead to less confusion. Select Sun Solaris 10 as the type of operating sys-
tem to be installed. Oracle VM has some knowledge of various operating systems,
so if a known operating system is to be installed, it should be selected; otherwise,
select Other.
