Use the drop-down menu to narrow your theme search to a category such
as Free Themes, Two Column, or Minimalistic.
If desired, you can search through even more themes in Tumblr's theme
garden at www.tumblr.com/themes/ . For additional details about theme custom-
ization, installing new themes, and modifying existing themes, check out Chapter 9.
3. When you see a theme that looks interesting, click that theme's thumbnail to pre-
view how your blog would look using that theme.
Click as many as you like; see which one appeals to you most.
4. To begin using a selected theme, click the Use button at the top of the left panel.
If you chose a paid theme, click the Use button, then click the Purchase button, and
follow the onscreen prompts to enter your name and credit card information.
To exit the panel without changing themes, click the Cancel button.
Setting the title and description
The title and description appear at the top of your blog. In the left pane, you can cus-
tomize both fields to let visitors learn more about you and your blog:
Title: The title is the name or phrase that appears at the top of your blog. This can
be the same as your blog name, something completely different, or you could even
leave it blank. To edit the title, simply double-click the word Untitled (and type in
your new title text).
Description: The description helps define what your blog is all about, whether it's
a short bio or a brief statement about your blog's purpose. To add a description,
click inside the Description field and start typing. Your text will appear instantly
within the theme so you can easily proofread and edit as needed.
If you know HTML, you can include any HTML code in the Title and Descrip-
tion fields. For example, if you want to include a link in the Description area to
your Twitter account, you could enter the following HTML, making sure to replace
your Twitter account name where it says NAME :
